The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi Qasr Al Muwaiji’s interactive monthly Family Day Workshop in Al Ain will return for its final instalment on Friday, 20th July from 5pm – 7pm, with an exciting new arts and crafts activities.
Open to everyone and free of charge, the session invites families and children of all ages to learn the techniques involved in candle decorating. The Family Day Workshop in Al Ain aims to help children to develop their artistic talent and encourage them to get creative.
The Family Day Workshop in Al Ain is held once a month to explore various topics through creative and artistic ways. The series also gets families and children engaged in exploring the history and culture of the UAE and Emirati heritage.
The workshop will be held at the historic Qasr Al Muwaiji Palace to develop public information and expand knowledge of the birthplace of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The palace was originally used as a diwan (a council/ seat of governance) and as a place for the community to congregate together. Built in the early years of the 20th century, it has been restored to its former glory and reopened to the public as a museum and permanent exhibit.
Visitors today can explore the history of the palace, its significance as a family home and as a place of governance and its role as part of the Al Ain community.
