School On Show
More than 150 interested parents took the opportunity to tour Kings’ School Al Barsha earlier this month for the first open evening event of the academic year
You wouldn’t buy a new car or house without going for a test drive or arranging a viewing, and the same principle applies when considering a new school for your child.
A scheduled fixture on Kings’ annual calendar, Kings’ School Al Barsha opened its doors to prospective parents this October, giving them an opportunity to explore the campus, meet staff and students, and get a feel for what makes the school tick.
Introductory leadership talks by Principal, Rebecca Gray, and Head of Secondary, Michael Bloy, kicked off proceedings, after which parents had the opportunity to meet with the Primary and Secondary leadership teams and get first-hand insight into what Kings’ can offer their child’s educational development by taking part in educational activities and mock lessons led by actual students.
A campus tour, from Foundation Stage through Primary and Secondary to Sixth Form, was managed by a tag team of Primary leadership and Kings’ Secondary students, with department tutors available at key staging points to answer specific curriculum questions.
From the purpose-built science laboratories, state-of-the-art music suites and expansive art and performing arts department, to the industry-standard design technology, food technology departments and international standard sporting facilities, parents were exposed to every facet of life at Kings’ from three to 18 years.
According to senior leadership, visiting parents left well informed, enthused and excited about the King’s experience with highlights including the various displays, workshops and student performances.
With a commitment to do ‘the best by every child’ and a well-rounded learning journey integral to the school’s continued success, prospective parents also enjoyed some hands-on fun by making keyrings in D&T, having a go at producing ice cream in the food technology department, taking part in a hair-raising science experiment, checking out the cool photo booth in the photography studio, and exploring the world through state-of-the-art virtual reality headsets.
